Hi all.

Amps this time...

I can't seem to pick a lot between these two amps and as far as I can see
(or hear!) I'd be happy with either.... however does anyone have a firm
opinion as to why I should go with one over the other?

Leaning toward the 602... though the 750 does have a higher output rating
(for what thats worth!) and it also does S-Video to Component upscaling
which might reduce my cabling costs somewhat!

Speakers are probably the DB Dynamics Vega F45, though not decided on this
as yet.

Setup is primarily HT, 5x5m room, 7.1.

Thanks for any info.
Dave.

Purchased the 750 and very happy with it so far. Like yourself I could
not hear a significant difference between it and many others in this
price braket. Notwithstanding a resonable and quite varied music
collection the majority (90%) of use is movies/TV and in this area I
felt the 750 had a slight edge over the others.
Have a look at the Eastwood Hifi web site under reviews, admits to
being biased but makes for an interesting read. They have also
indicated on the gossip page that there is some yamaha returned to
supplier stock coming up shortly with 25 to 40% discount expected.
Also found worth keeping an eye on web sites for Cabramatta hifi, Steve
Bennett, Duratone, Clef and Campsie for clearance speacils

able to rum Video S thru component to my Pj only one set of cables
needed, Nice sound, lots of goodies like auto speaker setup, and

I actually rechecked the website and manual for the 602 - apparently it does
do SVideo and composite to component upconversion... their brochure looks
like its wrong!

feature so I asked dealer said it did but it didn't, suggest you
enquire furthur.

I couldn't see a review of the 750 on their website - do you have a URL?

I also saw the gossip stuff. Could be interesting.

Thanks,
Dave.

This sites give a better indication of the inputs on the sony receiver

http://www.avland.co.uk/sony/strdb795/strdb795.htm

In fact now I look at what they have in the table it is all wrong. It
definitely has component inputs and 5.1 RCA inputs.

Thanks - probably will go with the SR-602, and yes I believe it does do the
upconversion!

I am very happy with my Onkyo 602, no problem with power output into JBL
Northbridge speakers for my lounge.
P26 in the manual states a TX-SR602E and Australian TX-SR602 can be set to
upconvert composite and s-video and output them to component video.
