SmartWORLD Release Thinkboxx V4.1.0

The following is a summary of the enhancements and changes that are incorporated into the 4.1.0 release (since 4.0.6) of the product:

Graphical User Interface:
1 The ability to connect and control a C-Bus network via a serial interface has been added to the existing ability to do this via a C-Bus SIM. A standard RS232 C-Bus PC Interface can be connected directly to P2 (configured to operate as a RS232 port), which then acts as the C-Bus interface. To accommodate both SIM or PCI applications, an appropriate checkbox has been provided on the C-Bus Interface configuration menu. If a SIM is not used, the C-Bus Interface will show up in the Serial Devices Summary of the Serial Multiplexer configured as P2.
2 The Jeeves JV000 controller is no longer supported.
3 The CEBus Interface is no longer supported

Controller Firmware:
4 With this release (4.1.0), The C-Bus interface can be set to use a Serial C-Bus interface as an alternative to the C-Bus SIM. See Graphical User Interface above for more details. The P2 serial port needs to be configured as RS232 by setting jumper J2 to the appropriate position.
5 The 30 day trial period has been removed. The Firmware needs to be activated for a specific controller immediately after installation.
6 The CEBus Interface is no longer supported

Telephone Interface Firmware:
No change. Only update of version number.

Can some one please post the "readme" file for the version 410 software to the
forum???

The easiest way to find out what is happening ( and what has been fixed )
is to read the readme file that 'smart' always put in the Thinkboxx directory.

In the past it has always been the best reference for what has happened with the product/ software.

Whilst the links provided in other messages provide some info, they do not
address the original question i posted.

The easiest way to get info on the controller itself for the past 6 odd years is
to read the readme file supplied with the newer software. This requires you
to download the software , just to get the "readme" file.

the readme file is attached to this message.

Hmm,

Thanks for the heads up Coppo. Unfortunately the purchase price of the Thinkboxx has effectively doubled in cost. The unit itself while working with a serial interface still requires the use of V2 software. This then means the use of 3 software programs to perform an install which is quite untenable.

The software now must be purchased at a cost of $499 +GST.

They also want $80 to freight to me in NSW from Adelaide. I can send the same size box to the UK cheaper than this price.

I’m not sure what planet Smart are on but its not earth.

Have a look at http://www.elkproducts.com/products/m1/elk-m1.htm

The sooner CIS grab this product and work a solution the better. have a good look at the M1, its got it all and its priced at around $600 AUD

The Thinkboxx at the current price structure is doomed, at least in my opinion, and for what it is worth.

are you saying $500.00 per software licence now,

or is it $500 and you can program as many controllers as u want?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

yeh the elk panel looks very nice, one of the other gents pointed it out to me
and the software download.

That elk looks like a seriously user friendly piece of equipment.

I like the software interface!!! bring it on
