OK well just got back from Adelaide and the Integrators conference.

First impressions?

We have a bucket load of new product to play with. The official launch of the majority of product is slated for August which will see the launch of C-Bus V3 as well.

Ask away....

so don't tease up, what else is commingSorry I wasn't teasing. How about...

1. Colour touch Screens
2. Version 3 C-Bus software
3. Dynamic Labeling technology, Very fancy new switches.
4. Multi-room Audio, controlled on a cbus network. Very nice.
5. Lots of new/updated software to play with.
6. Premise gateway. Basically a router with cbus and ethernet interface or your house on the web.
7. Clipsal portal.
8. Starserver Stereo modulator
9. C-Bus specific switchboards. Hey they listened.!!!

Will that do?

Watch this space. As I recieve official releases I'll post them. I'm sure everyone is going to like whats coming up real soon. The major push is in August and is followed Q4 with other nice bits.

Is the C-bus network really capable of all this. The network (from memory) is a tad slow as adata networks go these days. (mainly the multiroom audio)

Mick,
It will do it on its ear, so to speak. The network speed is almost instant with no lag whatsoever.

I'm not sure how you arrived at this idea but slow it is not.

The whole concept of c-bus multiroom is simple. Volume control and component selection can be performed from a c-bus switch. So take a neo 8 gang switch for example. The top 4 keys could be for lighting control and the bottom 4 keys for volume control and component selection. Brilliant!

Cheers

Not really brilliant, basic at least. Will IR be available as well (yes it is just a switch), what about feedback, like what preset you have changed the to the tuner, or what track the CD is on. None of this is available in a 8 gang neo. For a truly comprehensive system you need to go to somehting like that of russound, xantech and niles to name a few.
While it is great to see that they are adding more to the functionality, it would be great to see them go the distance and complete it. Maybe it will be availabel in a touchscreen, but they are a bit expensive to put in every room where you want sound. Supplimental control of a WHA is about its limit

So are clipsal comming out with there own multiroom amplifiers and speakers to "suit" there system?

Lets hope old mate Billy Gates hasn't been talking to clipsal about world domination and monopoly's, c-bus is great because its so flexable, lets keep that way for the integrators sake! :)

Yes they are. It will form part of the C-bus network.

Any idea what the cabling requirements are for the multiroom audio?

I'd like to be able to run the correct cables while I have no plaster.

I'd say that the amplifiers will be located in an equipment area Such as the theatre room and the c-bus switched in the multiroom location can be programmed to ON/OFF, Select source, and volume control.

The c-bus switch is now a lighting switch etc. and a volume & Source controller! pretty neat!

So run 4 core speaker wire to the zone, with a 2 core link to other speaker and run pink CAT 5 to switch location as per normal.

I run the 4 core via the switch and also run a CAT 5 back to the Amp from the switch in case of other multiroom audio system.

Guys I can't say too much as I am bound by an NDA. I can say that amps are also available in roof or in situ. Best bet is to get onto Clipsal and see what they can tell you.
If I say too much I'll be in trouble or I'll have to kill you.

Consider tho the usage of a c-bus mutiroom system with combinations of in ceiling amps and DLT (dynamic labling technology) switches. hmm.

Man, I wish I was in the NDA Club. :(

Do You get a cool jacket and hat? :)

We could turn my garage into clubrooms. :D

C'mon, let me join....

Non disclosure agreements (NDA) are funny things. I'm dammed if I say too much and dammed if I don't. You could try the CIS forum but I think you will get blank looks from them as well. Till I have the green light to say more I simply can't.

And yes you do get a cool jacket and hat, how did you guess that.! As for joining the club well I think its by invitation only, but I guess you could ask them that while your at it.
